Description

1958 Imperial Crown Convertible For Sale

Imperial was the Chrysler Corporation's luxury automobile brand from 1955 to 1975, and again from 1981 to 1983. However, in 1955, the company spun off Imperial into its own make and division to better compete with its North American rivals, Lincoln and Cadillac. Imperial would see new or modified body styles introduced every two to three years. For the 1957 model year, the Imperial received its own platform, setting it apart from any other division of Chrysler. Another advantage was that Imperial, and all Mopars, received Torsion-Aire suspension for 1957. Styling changes for 1958 were limited to the front grille and bumper from the 1957 Imperial. The 1958 Imperial is credited with the introduction of cruise control. The Hemi engine with a displacement enlarged to 392 cubic inch was standard for 1957-58.

1958 Imperial Crown Convertible. This 1958 Imperial was a barn find in Texas, that had been stored for many years. It is one of only 675 made in 1958. Has its original 392 Hemi V8 engine with an automatic push button transmission. We got the engine to start off of pouring some gas into the carburetor. As far as we were told this vehicle has been off the road since the late 60's early 70's. This car comes with power assisted brake, power steering and air conditioning. Soft top frame is there and as far as we can see it is complete. We believe that the vehicle was originally blue with a blue interior. Has electric windows and all the glass for the car is there and in good shape.

From what we see with additional parts and what is installed, the interior is all there. It will have to be completely restored. The dash is all original and hasn't cut. Has the original stereo, original steering and factory gauge cluster. This vehicle does have some rust, but not bad for a vehicle that is over 60 years old. The frame on the vehicle is completely solid. Does come with a clean Texas title. There is other spare parts included with the sale of this vehicle. In the long box is new trim for around the back of the car, trunk handle is there, two spare tail lights, etc. These cars don't come up to often.
