The Studebaker Gran Turismo is a sporty coupe that was sold between 1962 and 1964. It was the final development of the Studebaker Hawk series that began with the Golden Hawk of 1956.
The GT Hawk's styling was a fairly radical facelift. The hood from the older Hawk was retained, but was given a more pronounced radiator frame to more closely resemble Mercedes Benz. The grille inside the radiator frame was patterned after the Mercedes as well. Despite the European influence, the Gran Turismo had American influences as well. The roofline was heavily inspired by the Ford Thunderbird. The taillights were particularly fashioned after Lincoln. The rear window was nearly flat and recessed, reducing the cost of an ordinarily expensive piece of glass. Overall, the exterior look kept the smooth, aerodynamic style of previous Studebaker's but moved up to date. For 1962, a Hawk buyer could choose from either two or four barrel carburetor. Studebaker's 289-cubic-inch V8 engine paired with standard three-speed manual, overdrive four-speed or Flight-O-Matic automatic transmission. The stock engine had lower compression but that provided a  longer engine life.

This 1962 Studebaker has just come out of long term ownership. As far as we know the car has the original 289 engine with a T-10 four speed manual gearbox. This vehicle hasn't been on the road in many years. We did get the engine to start off of pouring some gas down the carburetor. Has all four hubcaps which are in good shape. The car is mostly complete. Has both California black and yellow plates. First year for the Gran Turismo.

The interior on the car is mainly there but will need to be restored. All factory gauges are there and the dash is uncut. Front seats are bucket seats with a center console. Has manual windows. All the glass is there with the vehicle and in good shape. The original steering wheel is there and the horn Gran Turismo horn button is there. Been in California its whole life. Clean California title in hand and on non op. The car does have some rust.
